How to Live Stream the 2019 Formula 1 Season from Anywhere

start the F1 race at Formula One Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai Circuit.
Follow this guide to learn how to stream the 2019 Formula 1 season from anywhere in the world.

Last season’s Formula 1 racing was as exciting as anything else on TV at the time. Lewis Hamilton managed to come out on top and decidedly won the World Drivers’ Championship crown. He and his Mercedes team also managed to secure the prestigious World Constructor’s title in the same season.

Hamilton and his team are working towards a repeat of the 2018 season and have made significant headway toward achieving this goal. With about six months and over a dozen races left in the season, some exciting events lie ahead.

While venues for these races will be present all over the world, the ability to stream them will not. Formula 1 fans in the U.S., the U.K., New Zealand, Australia and Canada should have no trouble finding ways to stream the races. If you live outside of these countries and want to stream the 2019 F1 season, follow the guide below.

How to Live Stream the 2019 F1 Season from Anywhere

Living in a country in which Formula 1 is not available for streaming doesn’t mean that you can’t watch the races. You will just need to take a few extra steps in order to gain access to the F1 streaming services.

The first of these steps is to sign up for a VPN service. VPNs use remote routers to mask your location and encrypt your data. They make it more secure for you to browse the internet and give you the ability to make it appear as though you’re located in a country other than the one in which you are actually located.

For example: If you live in Germany, you can use your VPN service to connect to a router in the U.S. and make it appear as though you’re actually located in the U.S.

This function of VPNs is useful for those who live outside of countries in which F1 streaming is available. Using a VPN, you can connect to a server in a country where F1 streaming is available and easily stream from there.

First, you’ll need to find a VPN that fits your needs. If you only plan to use the VPN to stream content that is blocked in your country, you need to look for two key components when deciding on a VPN provider—speed and server locations.

For uninterrupted streaming, the VPN service you sign up for needs to be able to handle internet speed demands associated with streaming. Additionally, the VPN provider needs to have servers in the country in which the content you’re trying to stream is available.

If you plan on using your VPN for other internet browsing aside from streaming, then you will need to take other aspects into consideration before choosing one. Some VPNs offer better protection but have decreased speeds, while others offer the opposite. Some offer a simple user interface with few customization options, while others allow you to adjust every feature of the VPN.

With the growing awareness around the need for online security, the VPN market has grown rapidly. So, there is likely an option available that suits your needs.

Once you’ve chosen a VPN service provider and created/paid for an account, the next step is to download the app for the VPN.

If you plan to stream the F1 season on your smartphone or computer, the app should be easily found on the VPN’s website and should be simple to install and use.

If you plan on using a different device on which the app may not be available, like a PlayStation or Xbox, you will need to install the VPN on your wireless router itself. While this is a bit more complicated than installing an app, we have a detailed guide on how to complete this process.

When the VPN is installed either on your router or on your smartphone or computer, the next step is to connect to a server.

Since F1 streaming is available in the U.S. and the U.K., you should connect to one of the VPN servers in one of these countries. Once the connection is established, you should be able to stream the F1 races. Your computer will appear to the streaming service as though it is located in the U.S. or the U.K., so you should have no issues accessing the content.

Read on for more information on how to stream Formula 1 races once you’ve connected to a VPN server in either the U.S. or the U.K.

How to Live Stream F1 Races in the UK

If you live in the U.K. or plan to stream the F1 season by using a VPN to connect to a U.K.-based server, you will need to use Sky Sports to access the content.

If you already have a Sky Sports account, you can add the F1 channel to your subscription for £10 per month. The F1 season can also be streamed with the complete Sky Sports package for £23 per month for 18 months. This content can be streamed using the Sky Go app if you choose to watch on a mobile device.

Another option to stream Formula 1 races in the U.K. is NOW TV, which offers daily, weekly and monthly passes for purchase that allow streaming of F1 races.

If you only plan to tune in for F1 races and are not inclined to watch other sports content in the future, you can purchase NOW TV’s 24-hour streaming pass for £8.99 on the day of the race. This is the cheapest option and will keep you from paying for streaming access you only use when a Formula 1 Grand Prix is occurring.

If a single race is enough to get your fill of Formula 1, the British Grand Prix will be available to watch for free through Channel 4, which has streaming capabilities.
